About

Hi! I’m Jada-Mercy. I earned my B.S in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2022. Beginning in Fall 2025, I will be a Master of City Planning candidate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design. I have over 9 years of event planning and program management experience. Before beginning my journey in academia, I worked for two years as an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Analyst.

Committed to impactful education and ethical social infrastructure, I aim to support the planning, development, and administration of more connected and thriving communities. My passion for volunteer work with Minorities in Engineering programs and nonprofit organizations has fueled my desire to inspire others to break glass ceilings and lead the next generation. I am pursuing a professional career in academia as both an educator and advocate and currently bring over three years of teaching experience.

My personal blog features a conglomeration of all of my interests. It features faith-based, inspirational storytelling, documentation of my graduate school journey, and stories from my life, and the lives of those around me. Check it out here.

I am a proud native of Prince Georges County, MD, a region filled with excellence, ambition, and vibrancy. The diversity, creativity, and political relevance of this region inspired much of my interest in city and regional planning. I look forward to learning more about the rich history of Philadelphia and finding a way to marry both experiences in my research and future work.
